Relax and enjoy our award winning blue flag beaches

17th April 2013 By Tony Gittins 0 Comment Places to Visit
Relax and enjoy our award winning blue flag beaches

Home to 27 miles of picturesque coastline, much of which is set within the Suffolk Coast & Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, our beaches and coastline provide something for everyone.

2010 saw six of The Sunrise Coast’s beaches win awards proving that they have achieved the highest levels of cleanliness and safety possible.  Lowestoft North of Claremont Pier and Lowestoft South of Claremont Pier resort beaches were awarded prestigious FEE Blue Flag Awards. Kessingland, Southwold Denes, Southwold Pier and Southwold North of Pier beaches were awarded Keep Britain Tidy Quality Coast Awards.

There is nothing better than taking a walk on one of our many beautiful beaches and feeling the warm sand between your toes. Our beaches make the ideal base for a family day out with sandcastles to build, donkeys to ride and games to play and there should be just enough time for a well-deserved ice cream.

Colourful, traditional beach huts overlook the award-winning beaches at Lowestoft and Southwold. The beach huts can be hired on a daily, weekly or seasonal basis throughout the summer months

A watchful eye is kept over the resort beaches at Lowestoft and Southwold, as our fully trained lifeguards patrol them.

Getting away from it all, the picturesque rural beaches of Pakefield, Kessingland and Southwold Denes are ideal if you enjoy walking along the shoreline, wandering through the dunes or just relaxing and soaking up the sun in peaceful surroundings.

Dog Ban

  • Dogs are not permitted on the Award beaches between 1 May and 30 September.  During this time, dogs must be kept on leads whilst on the promenade.

  • Emergency Procedure – to raise the alarm, dial 999 and ask for the appropriate service.
  • Lost Children – FREE SeaSmart wristbands are available from the East Point Pavilion, which allows your children to carry identification and contact details, to ensure that if lost, they are quickly and safely reunited with you.

Lifeguard Stations at Lowestoft and Southwold resort beaches operate as a meeting point for lost children.  Telephone 01502 586167 (Lowestoft, South of Claremont Pier) or 01502 569352 (Lowestoft, North of Claremont Pier).
